Victor Cauduro Rojas is far more than one of the finest Mexican painters of his generation: those familiar with his work would rate his technical mastery and maturity of gesture among the fine painters of any age and his planetary sensibilities as transcending any one country. Victor has a family heritage of noted painters, but shines even in their midst. He can strongly invoke place, character or mythology, but always with a power and twist that makes his work stand up to masterwork from any place or time. The painting on the cover of "Imaginary Lines", Woman In Front of A Mirror, is from the body of work completed during his residence in Baja California, images that speak strongly to the vibrant desolation of the desert and often involve the same sort of "hollow half people" as seen in the cover piece. Much of that body of work is featured in the video "trailer" for the book.
